IN-PERSON & TELEHEALTH

Individual Counseling

Most talk therapies rely on a person’s conscious, logical reasoning to recognize and address stuck thinking and behavioral patterns, aiming to change them and desensitize discomfort.

In contrast, mind-body approaches engage the mind, body, and physical sensations to explore thoughts, emotions, and memories. Our bodies store both conscious and unconscious experiences, leading to automatic reactions to people, places, and situations.

From this perspective, counseling draws on the mind and body’s innate wisdom to bring stuck emotions, experiences, and beliefs into conscious awareness, fostering relief and healing.

Session Duration: 60 or 90 minutes

Person-Centered

A relationship and process-oriented approach emphasizing listening, empathy, and nonjudgment rather than analyzing symptoms and behaviors.

Internal Family Systems

An approach that perceives all people as a system of protective and wounded inner parts led by a core Self that encompasses the whole individual. This is depicted very well in Pixar’s Inside Out.

Mind-Body Integration

A guiding principle to counseling, rooted in the body as the starting point to achieve healing rather than only engaging the mind within the therapeutic process.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know that I am experiencing a bottom-up approach or mind-body integration?

Crossover Counseling as a practice is grounded in prioritizing mind-body integration and wellness, not solely during therapy sessions. All clients at Crossover Counseling become familiar with Neuroeducation, a component of neuropsychology that helps individuals understand how the mind-body connection affects one’s mental health and how the body can be the starting point to achieve healing and overall well-being.

By helping individuals understand the brain-body connection and nervous system, many experience reduced stress and symptom expression, increased compassion and empathy for oneself, released feelings of shame and blame, a greater curiosity and openness to self-exploration and growth, and feelings of empowerment, encouragement, and hope.

We are passionate about helping people gain an understanding of the mind-body connection and the body’s innate wisdom to support individuals in feeling confident to engage with and listen to their body to understand what is needed to navigate an issue or difficult situation, both in and out of session.
